Since our humble beginnings, in a home-made concession stand, on April 7th, 2005, Big Baldy’s has been owned and operated by the Hayes family. By September 1st, 2007 Big Baldy’s had moved into its present location.
Bar-B-Q is a truly American food, and unique to every state and region in which it originated. We are proudly Texas-style. Bar-B-Q in Texas means smoked meats, primarily brisket. The meats are never covered in sauce while in the smoker. The sauce is thick, rich and spoonable…no need to hide the flavor of the meat with a thin, vinegary sauce. Nashville loyalists might argue that Texas-style Bar-B-Q is just smoked meats, but Texans consider Nashville Bar-B-Q to be no different than grillin’ a burger. “Yes, them there is fightin words!”
We are known for our home-made tasty sauces and “overly tender” meats. The house specialty is the loaded Tater and Bar-B-Q Nachos. We are also well regarded for our Texas sized potions and large seafood selection.
Our goal from the beginning was to create a casual, family-friendly restaurant environment, with pricing affordable to the working-class families of Monett. Our “fast-food” format was chosen to make a Bar-B-Q lunch option accessible to all those working family members who have a short lunch hour.
